The Umezawa company was established in Mie Prefecture, Japan, in 1939. It specializes in crafting traditional household goods from Japan’s beloved trees, such as the hinoki cypress and Aomori hiba.
Upon stepping into a traditional Japanese bathhouse, you are sure to spot hinoki bath buckets placed near washing stations or alongside the bath. These buckets have been used for hundreds of years to assist in washing the body, for cooling off after a hot bath, and for carrying bath items to and from the bath.
We love the Zen-like feel these buckets bring to any bathroom through both their aesthetic clean lines and their faint hinoki cypress scent that lightly permeates the air when wet.
If you’ve bathed in Japan, this bucket is sure to bring back fond memories. If you haven’t bathed in Japan, this bucket will take you one step closer to the authentic Japanese bathing experience.
Dimensions:8.75"w x 4.5"h Materials: Hinoki cypress wood and copper
Use this bucket to bathe in the Japanese manner – by splashing water over the body, especially the shoulders and back. As you do so, feel your cares and worries being washed away.
After a bath, use this bucket for a final rinse in the tub once the water has been drained out.
This bucket can also be used to hold personal care items or anything else, for that matter. Let your imagination take hold...
Keep out of direct sunlight. Do not wash with soap – just a quick rinse in water will do. Wipe the wood and copper fittings dry with a soft cloth after use.
