The Shizumi Luxury Bath Salts are a dedication to traditional Japanese wellness and Japan’s artisanally grown ingredients. These ingredients have been used for skin care as well as in the Japanese diet for centuries and are truly time-honored treasures. We have hand-selected each ingredient for its effect on the body (both skin and overall wellbeing), as well as the integrity of the growing and harvesting process.

Here is a chance to learn a bit more about the incredible ingredients that go into this very special wellness treatment.

The Salts:

Dead Sea Salts, Israel: Unrefined and therefore extremely high in minerals, Dead Sea salts are soothing and softening to the skin. They also soothe and relax the muscles.

Pink Himalayan Salt, the Himalayan Mountains: Known for their beautiful pink to reddish hue. Soaking in Himalayan salts, which are rich in minerals, delivers nutrients to your cells in the form of “ions”, making these nutrients easier to absorb and use. Himalayan bath salts can improve the texture, tone and appearance of your skin, combat water retention, prevent sore muscles, help regulate sleep, and decrease tension and stress.

Pacific Sea Salts, Northern California Coast: Solar harvested from the majestic Pacific northwest coast. Soothing for muscle aches and pains.

The Japanese Superfoods:

Ceremonial Grade Kyoto Matcha, Japan: A finely ground powder of specially grown and processed green tea leaves, matcha is extremely high in antioxidants and helps fight free radical damage, therefore slowing the aging process both internally and externally.

Wakame, Japan: Rich in vital minerals as well as a myriad of B-vitamins, wakame is a nutrient-dense sea vegetable that is also a potent skin healer and is known for its ability to combat signs of aging. Wakame root is particularly nutritious due to its growing conditions. Our wakame root is harvested in the traditional method – raked by hand from the cold depths of the ocean floor by female divers.

Kombo Sea Kelp, Japan: A nourishing sea vegetable harvested off the coast of Hokkaido, kombu infuses the body with a myriad of essential minerals while it promotes detoxification.

Yomogi (Japanese Mugwort), Japan: Yomogi has been used in Japanese baths since ancient times. It is believed to relax the muscles, clear the skin of blemishes and discoloration, and reduce inflammation.
