Taking a Bath, Made Easy

While I was on vacation last month I had a conversation with someone that bought back a lot of memories. We had been discussing bathing, and the woman I was speaking with mentioned how daunting taking a bath seems at times. You have to clean the bath, wait for it to fill up…….. Next week Amayori is launching a brand new dry oil for the bath. This oil is so amazingly luscious – you won’t want to miss this one. On that note, I wanted to give my tips on preparing a bath that will make the process go from daunting to easy. Realize that preparing a bath only takes a few minutes of your time. Is it worth...

Enjoying an Evening Alone

I love my husband. He is my best friend in the world and I enjoy every moment we spend together. That said, when he's traveling, I do enjoy (and even look forward to) my alone time.  Following is my ritual for an evening alone. I hope this inspires you to take some time and treat yourself next time you have the evening to yourself. I look forward to this ritual every time. First, I make a dinner that requires little to no cleaning. I eat a very clean diet and I'm not really an "order-in" person, so I usually treat myself to an Amy's Organics rice crust pizza. Life Lessons From Tea Ceremony: Mindfulness & Making Time

One of the things that always captivates me during a tea ceremony is the thoughtfulness that goes behind every movement. This is no exaggeration – every single tiny movement is orchestrated. The intention is to create beauty that the guest who is being served tea, can enjoy. These movements create a sense of mindfulness and take the guest out of the day to day and into a world of beauty. When I first began studying tea ceremony I found this somewhat tedious. I believe it was my third class where we spent three hours sitting on tatami mat floors and learned to fold the fukusa - a cloth used during tea ceremony to purify the objects being used. We did...

How to Relax With Amayori's Aromatic Experiences

One evening about a year ago, I was taking a soak with Rotenburo Air Luxury Bath Salts after a very long day. I was trying to relax but I could not stop thinking about a huge to-do list that awaited me the next day. No matter what I did, thoughts kept creeping up until I had an unusual sensation – I didn’t want to think anymore. I relaxed deeper into the scent of Rotenburo Air. And then I remembered the story of the fragrance. I decided that rather than try to quiet my mind and suppress my thoughts, I would replace them with the story and image of Rotenburo Air – the outdoor Japanese bath in the mountains. Suddenly, I...

The Life Changing Power of Bathing Rituals

I wanted to share a bit of my personal story with you today. Bathing rituals have transformed my life so dramatically from the moment I first experienced them in Japan and they continue to do so every day. Amayori’s products, rituals, and Aromatic Experiences are life changing on many levels and have been a catalyst in helping me live a better life. Prior to starting Amayori I had been working as a busy and often frazzled real estate agent in New York City. My emotions were governed by my career. Work never stops in real estate. The pressure of working in a commission-only field in one of the most expensive cities in the world was often overwhelming. I had lost touch...
